352 Media Group placed 4th in the Alachua County Emerging Leaders (ACEL) fourth annual Champions for Charity kickball tournament, winning $750 for Horses Helping People, or HOPE, an equine-assisted occupational therapy program.
The Champions for Charity Tournament was held Saturday, Feb. 20, at Diamond Sports Park. 352 Media came prepared to fight for first. The kickball tournament was double elimination with 30 minute games each round. With over 24 teams, 352 Media strategized their way forward.
‘I’m proud of our employees for coming together for an event like this,’ said Peter VanRysdam, vice president of 352 Media Group. ‘They played so hard for such a good cause. While we would have liked to come in first, we’re still very excited to earn such a good donation for HOPE.’
It wasn’t until one of the last games before the championship rounds, that 352 Media was finally defeated. However, they redeemed themselves playing two more games before they lost to The Orthopedic Institute, taking 4th place.
From the sidelines Kristen Shimeall, the HOPE sponsor for the tournament, cheered the team on. Shimeall says the prize money of $750 will go towards the purchase of a new therapy horse.
